We didn’t give Victus an easy time of it, I’ll admit. For starters, we were a party of 16 people – never an easy task. Ages ranged from 10 years old to 60 plus, and three were vegetarians. We had to change the date twice, I think (have you ever tried to coordinate 16 people?!), and arrange the delivery of a birthday cake before we’d even stepped in the door. And once inside I lost count of the times we changed our orders, re-ordered our drinks, or got so wrapped in the merry atmosphere that we forgot to order at all!
But wow, did they handle it all with ease – and a smile.
Situated on the High Street, just seconds away from us, Victus is a relaxed, modern restaurant. Above it’s doorway is the sign ‘Grills, Fish, Cocktails’ – which I think sums up exactly what you can expect to find on the menu! The vegetarians in our party were pleasantly surprised with the variety they had to choose from – particularly the pescatarians as there is an excellent fish offering. And the more carnivorous amongst us were certainly not disappointed either (the ribs are a personal favourite!).
I can’t fault Victus on it’s service, atmosphere or food. All 16 plates were clean empty at the end of the meal, and no one wanted to leave – I suspect the new cocktail menu had something to do with that! I was particularly chuffed when they brought out the birthday cake with two big sparklers lit on top. The birthday boy was very happy indeed.
The convenience of Victus for our guests is undeniable, and many choose to eat there for that reason alone. But from our perspective, it’s comforting to know that our guests are going to receive great service and have a fantastic meal too. This was my fourth visit to Victus since they opened in summer 2015, and I doubt it’ll be my last – but next time I promise it’ll just be a table for two!
